We were introduced to Bernard Hoti, owner and head chef at Twist Preston, when he was setting up the restaurant and needed a new website. Twist is situated just across Guildhall Street in Preston from another of our happy clients – NIKO – who supplies the restaurant’s fine wine, and was happy to make an introduction.
Bernard was clear with us that Twist was to have a high-end, luxury feel that would accurately reflect the strong food focus of the restaurant that started out with fine dining and expanded to include Mediterranean food, pizza and burgers. Every single dish is cooked from scratch, so the online experience had to reflect this bespoke feel – dining with a twist.
We immediately started to pull together designs for the new site, inspired by the distinct interior design of the restaurant, and Bernard’s instructions.
One of the most important things users do when deciding to visit a restaurant is to take a look at the menu and plan a visit. As such, we wanted to make it easy for the Twist team to update the website’s food and drinks menu as it evolved and created a system which would make it simple to change. We also built dynamic opening hours that change the site content appropriately at different times of the day.
The next step in the journey is booking, so we also presented generic contact options, as well as integrated the site with a third-party booking service to pass table bookings directly to the restaurant’s till.
Finally, there is getting to the restaurant, so we created a custom ‘Get Directions’ button that would detect the device and then open the native maps app on the device to plot a route from the user’s current location to Twist.
Ultimately, we’re happy to say Bernard was happy with the result:
