Junior UX Designer

Ethical Pixels is looking to hire a Junior UX Designer to assist with the design and implementation of user-friendly, attractive and performant websites for our clients.

You will be tasked with various projects to help with the design and maintenance of client websites. You will create modern, attractive and usable design specifications for new sites and advise on updates and maintenance to existing sites within established design parameters.

To get the most from this role, you should have a keen eye for digital aesthetics, an interest in the workings of the internet, a desire to expand your knowledge and be passionate about technology and its potential to be a force for good in the world.

The role is predominantly remote, but travel to our Lancashire offices will be required periodically.

Responsibilities

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and design specifications that focus on seamless user interactions, under the supervision of senior designers. 
  • Work closely with UX designers and developers to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure designs implemented accurately. 
  • Regularly contribute creative ideas and solutions to improve user experience.
  • Research and stay updated on the latest web design trends and UX best practices.
  • Participate in design reviews and sessions to improve design skills and UX understanding.
  • Support the team in maintaining existing websites, ensuring they meet modern standards.
  • Learn and develop UX research skills
  • Contribute to the delivery of new websites, including the building of web pages using various design tools (coding knowledge not required).
  • Make content updates and design changes to existing client websites
  • Write design specifications and document design systems.

    Must have

  • A keen interest in UX design principles and best practices
  • A passion for design, graphic design and/or digital media
  • Strong computer literacy & IT competence
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive attitude and ability to manage your time effectively
  • Good understanding of websites and the internet, including architecture and aesthetics
  • Nice to have

  • Any digital or website project you can showcase at interview 👍
  • Experience with UX Design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma or Sketch
  • Working knowledge of, or experience with Wordpress
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web design fundamentals
  • Good understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles
  • Experience in UX research techniques, such as user testing or surveys
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG 2.2)
